Car2Go enters Paris
This week has seen the launch of a new electric car-sharing service in Paris. Car2Go, the free floating service which is already operational in many European cities – and particularly in its home country of Germany – has just launched in the French capital. The initial fleet sees some 400 smartfortwo electric cars available within Paris intra-muros. Speaking at the launch in front of Saint-Lazare station in the centre of Paris, Olivier Reppert, Director General of Car2Go, indicated both that this number would double by the end of the year, and that the service may in time be extended to the periphery.
The Car2Go move comes around six months after the end of the Bolloré auto’lib service, helping to fill a space which has already seen Moov’in (Renault) and Free2Move (PSA), begin operations.
