Luxembourg schedules free public transport

Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel has announced that from the beginning of 2020, free public transport will make its appearance in the Grand Duchy. The move will involve trains, trams and buses, all of which, if the initiative comes to fruition, will be free by 2030. There is as yet no indication of who will be eligible for this free transport. However, as the objective is to reduce road congestion and air pollution, it may be assumed that it will apply to everyone. This likelihood is all the more logical when it is considered that the population of Luxembourg is only 600,000 and that around 190,000 extra people come in every day to work from France and Belgium.
