Leroy Merlin goes car-sharing with Alphabet

Leroy Merlin is expanding its vehicle fleet programme with car-sharing services. The multinational specialised in construction, home decoration and gardening has acquired 76 Renault Clio Sport Tourer vehicles, equipped with the AlphaCity car-sharing technology from leasing and business mobility specialist Alphabet, for its operations in Spain.

With AlphaCity, companies can offer their employees a shared-use fleet for travel, allowing them to reserve vehicles conveniently through a website or app and access them without a key.

The new fleet will be distributed across Spain, where each of the Leroy Merlin’s stores will have at least one of the AlphaCity fitted vehicles. These vehicles will allow for the delivery of the new home technical assistance service that Leroy Merlin has recently implemented in Spain.

21,000 users in 8 countries
For Leroy Merlin, opting for the Corporate CarSharing AlphaCity was due to the possibility of accessing shared and efficient corporate mobility. Emilio Ruiz-Roso, Director of HR Management at Leroy Merlin: "Mobility is conceived as an element that must be integrated into our business model and, therefore, must be coherent. Which is why, we are working to integrate the concepts of security, mobility, digitalisation and car-sharing into our mobility policy. In addition, at Leroy Merlin we work in a 360-degree corporate responsibility culture and the challenge of looking after the environment is vital."

The CEO of Alphabet International, Norbert Van den Eijnden, was also present, saying: "AlphaCity was an initiative by Alphabet that was intended to provide a complementary solution to traditional leasing agreements for the management of the corporate mobility of our customers. This agreement with Leroy Merlin is a confirmation that we are right." Today AlphaCity is a service that Alphabet offers to a total of 21,000 users in 8 countries. This latest agreement represents the largest fleet managed under this solution at international level.
