Volvo accelerates autonomous technology development

Zenuity, the assisted and autonomous driving software development company, will be split into two by its owners, Volvo Cars and Veoneer.

Today, Zenuity is a 50/50 joint venture between Volvo Cars and Veoneer, an autonomous safety equipment company.

After the split, one part will focus on developing and commercialising unsupervised autonomous drive software. This part will be owned by Volvo Cars and it will consist of Zenuity’s operations and people based in Gothenburg and Shanghai.

The second part will focus on advanced driver assistance systems. This part will be integrated into Veoneer and it will include Zenuity’s operations and people based in Germany and the US.
