Fiat losing ground in growing Italian market

The Italian market regained its dynamism in the past month of August, going up 9.5%, reports Autoactu. Nevertheless, Fiat lost 15%, after a 10% loss in July.

July, a positive month for the Italian car market (+4.4%), was also a difficult month for Fiat.

As a whole, FCA group performs well, thanks to Jeep (+138% in August and +104% over the first 8 months of the year) and Alfa Romeo (+67% in August, +16% over the whole year).

In spite of its decline, FCA has a firm hold on number one spots: the Panda holds 33% of city cars, the Giulia (35%) and the 500L (around 30%) also lead their segments. The regular 500, on the other hand, dropped out of the top 10.

Diesel standing its ground

Over the first 8 months of 2018, diesel has a 53.7% share of new registrations (-3%). Petrol grew one point, reaching 33.1%. Hybrids grew to 4.1%, electric cars represent a mere 0.2%.
