Skoda builds own EV in 2020

The Czech VW subsidiary has announced it will be building its own fully electric, all-new vehicle at the Mlada Boleslav plant in three years’ time. Moreover, from 2019 onwards, Skoda will start manufacturing electrical components for VW Group’s plug-in hybrids.

Skoda will also be electifying existing models. The first model to become a plug-in hybrid - in 2019 - is the Superb, followed by the Kodiaq. The powertrain of these plug-in hybrids is carried over from the Passat GTE and comprises a 1.4 TSI combined with a 85 kW electric motor.
