Volvo launches mobility brand M

Volvo Cars is launching M,  a wholly-owned, stand-alone new mobility brand within the Volvo Car Group. Its mission is to deliver better alternatives to car ownership for urban and metro consumers via on-demand access to cars and proprietary mobility services.

It will do so through an intuitive app, which will learn about the preferences and habits of its users, in order to develop a personalised relationship between the brand and its individual customers.

“We recognise that urban consumers are rethinking traditional car ownership. M is part of our answer”, comments Håkan Samuelsson, Volvo Cars president and CEO. “It creates new sources of revenue for Volvo Cars, and will be integral to our ambition to build more than 5 million direct consumer relationships by 2025”.

M will fully integrate Sunfleet, Volvo's car-sharing pioneer in Sweden. The company's base of development will be Stockholm, where extensive testing is already underway, to be followed by Beta testing this autumn. M will debut in Sweden and the U.S. by the spring of 2019.
