Autonom continues acquisitions in Romania, buying Tiriac

Autonom Services, a Romanian short-term mobility services provider, will acquire Tiriac Operating Lease, also in Romania (pictured: Bucharest). This will take the company well beyond the symbolic threshold of 10,000 vehicles.

The acquisition will increase the productivity and turnover of Autonom Services, and strengthen the company’s position on the Romanian operational leasing market.

Founded in 2006, Autonom Services is part of the Autonom International group, which employs 500 and operates a fleet of more than 9,000 cars.

Last March, Autonom Services completed the acquisition of BT Operational Leasing, a leasing subsidiary of the Romanian financial group Banca Transilvania.

Founded in 2003, Tiriac Operating Lease carries out operational leasing and fleet management for around 9,000 vehicles in more than 4,500 contracts. The company is valued at €40 million.

Tiriac Operating Lease is part of the Tiriac Group, a conglomerate of more than 40 private companies operating in the automotive, real estate, financial, air transport and energy sectors.

The group is controlled by Ion Tiriac, a former professional tennis player. Dubbed the “Brașov Bulldozer”, he won the men’s doubles at the 1970 French Open, with Ilie Nastase. Now a successful businessman, he is the third-richest person in Romania.
