Daimler and NewMotion in charge point agreement

A substantial advance in the task of making electric vehicles easier for fleets to use and therefore more popular, has been announced. Daimler is getting together with Dutch-based charge point supplier NewMotion to provide customers with intelligent recharging points. This will involve all aspects of the charging point infrastructure, from advice to installation, along with information about public charge points. The new agreement will enable users to have access to over 100,000 public charging points across Europe, and provides a specialist on-line tool to support fleet managers in the professional handling of their electric fleet. Fleet drivers will be able to find charge points via rhe NewMotion app and see cost statements.

Mercedes-Benz Cars sees this as an important part of its electric mobility offensive, all aspects of which are brought together under the name ‘CASE’. These letters stand for Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, Electric. The company is further developing these aspects and rendering them more intelligent. Private customers can be provided with charge points at home as well as having access to public points, while fleets will be able to consider more electrification of their fleets.

This year is to see the first pure electric Mercedes car brought onto the market.
