Renault launches 2022 Megane E-Tech with 292 mile range

The Renault Megane e-Tech, revealed at IAA Mobility, Munich 2021

Renault has unveiled its new Megane SUV EV, which boasts a range of 292 miles, at the 2021 Munich Motor Show.

Described by the French car manufacturer as: “an augmented hatchback with a sleek, elegant style”, the company is aiming to build on the success of the electric Zoe, which it originally launched in 2013.

First Renault EV on the Alliance platform

The new Megane E-Tech is the first Renault model to run on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-EV platform. It comes with a choice of two power outputs for the electric motor (128bhp and 215bhp), alongside two battery sizes (40kWh and 60kWh), with ranges of 186 and 292 miles respectively. It can reach 62mph in 7.4 seconds and the 130kW DC option can charge from 15-80% within 30 minutes.

Weight-saving measures include a lightweight battery, aluminium doors and front-wheel drive. Inside, the car features a 12.3 inch OpenR screen and upholstery made of 100% recycled plastic (there’s a leather option for high-spec models).
