New Mercedes EQV minivan moves 8 people emission-free

The V Class goes electric – 90kWh battery yields 405km of range without compromising cabin space

Transporting a bunch of people in premium comfort, utmost silence and without tailpipe emissions:  that is the raison d’être of Mercedes-Benz’ latest electric model. The acclaimed V Class adopts an all-electric powertrain comprising a 150kW motor and an internally sourced lithium ion battery pack of 90kWh, enabling a range of 405km.

To maximise the latter, Mercedes has integrated a so-called Eco Assistant. This feature combines data from the sat nav, traffic sign recognition and information from the ADAS’ cameras and sensors to adapt the level of regenerative braking.

The battery has been integrated in the MPV’s floor so no cargo or passenger space is lost. Customers can choose between 7 or 8 seats, depending on the vehicle’s vocation. It can be topped up at an AC wall box at 11kW – a lot faster than the EQC thanks to the more advanced onboard charger.

Easy charging, Ionity included

The Mercedes Me Charge service gives access to 300,000 charging points throughout Europe operated by over 300 different providers. Regardless which one you use, you get one consolidated invoice at the end of the month.

You can also charge at DC fast chargers that belong to the Ionity network – a joint venture of BMW Group, BMW AG, Ford Motor Company and VW Group. The EQV can handle DC at 110kW, which means the 90kWh battery can be charged from 10 to 80% SoC (State of Charge) in about 40 minutes.

The EQV will be revealed at the 2019 IAA motor show in Frankfurt on September 10.
