Over 10,000 EVs registered YTD in the Netherlands

Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia e-Niro, VW e-Golf and the eternal Nissan Leaf: they have been selling like hot cookies in the Netherlands between January 1st and April 30th, according to RDC data. All EVs together represented 7.3% of new car sales during the first four months – an increase of 126% over the same period last year.

The surge might stabilise in the second and third quarter as Hyundai and Kia struggle to keep up with demand. They have already sold their entire year quota – about 4,000 units each – and getting more cars will be difficult as battery supply and production capacity is limited.
