Engie acquires ChargePoint

France-based energy group Engie has acquired ChargePoint Services (CPS), a provider of EV charging solutions in the UK. CPS works with both corporates and local authorities on providing charging infrastructure. The company also owns and operates GeniePoint, a UK-wide pay-as-you-go EV charging network with 20,000 customers.

The acquisition of CPS – which has combined networks totalling almost 1,000 charging stations – makes sense as part of Engie’s ambition to become a major player in the UK’s EV market, in the corporate, private and public segments.

With more than 75,000 EV charging stations worldwide, Engie is the world’s second-largest provider. The Engie Group includes EVBox (pictured), the manufacturer of both AC (slower) and DC (faster) charging point solutions.
