Deliveroo partners with insurance startup Qover

In association with Qover, an insurance startup from Belgium, meal delivery specialist Deliveroo is launching supplementary accident insurance for its couriers.

From 1 January, all Deliveroo couriers in Belgium will have completely free accident insurance. The policy, which is added to the liability insurance, will cover temporary loss of income and medical expenses, and also provide compensation in case of accident.

The complementary insurance, underwritten by Qover at Lloyd's of London, will include:
- Up to 75% of average weekly earnings for up to 26 weeks in the event of temporary disability following an accident at work;
- Compensation during the recovery period after an accident for up to two weeks;
- Up to €1,500 annual coverage for stays in hospital and up to €750 if these require the presence of a family member;
- Up to €2,000 dental insurance.

"This is a step forward in our commitment to end the compromise between flexibility and security in this new world of digital work", says Mathieu De Lophem, General Manager for Deliveroo Benelux.
