French used car market on the increase
The used car market in France recorded a substantial increase in June, up by 12.3% compared to the same month last year, and leading to a first half year up by 2.4% to a total of 2.77 million. As autoactu confirms, in numerical terms the quantity of extra second hand cars sold in the country from January to June amounts to 65,000.
Two age segments to have best performed are the ‘newest’ (less than one year old), and the three to five year old category. These were up by 1.9% and 2.7% respectively over the quarter. The intermediate category (one to two years), by contrast, was down by 6.7%. The oldest category – over 5 years – continues to represent the largest proportion, accounting for two thirds of all sales and up by 4.2% over the first half at 1.85 million units.
