Toyota invests in MaaS Global from Finland

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) and its insurance partner have made a strategic investment in MaaS Global Ltd., a Finnish startup known for its integrated mobility solution Whim. 

Established in April  2016, MaaS Global Ltd. aims to provide multimodal transportation services, among others via Whim. This app enables customers to purchase a monthly subscription package tailored to their transportation needs. 

The app currently operates in Helsinki, where the range of options includes public transport, car rental and e-hailing. The plan is to expand to three other major cities in Europe this year, and then further afield.

With its investment, TFS aims to establish a cooperation model for multimodal mobility solutions, including the necessary technology. For its part, TFS will help MaaS Global Ltd. to accelerate market entry and to build a long-term and loyal customer base.
