Skoda Kamiq charges into the urban crossover segment

The successful Kodiaq and Karoq get a baby brother: the Kamiq, a B segment urban cross over. Skoda's youngest is 4.24 metres long and 1.79 metre wide and rests on a 2.65-metre wheelbase – indeed it shares its underpinnings with the Seat Arona and the VW T-Cross. The boot can swallow up to 400 litres – a number that grows to 1,395 litres when you fold down the rear seats.

The powertrains are no strangers. On the petrol side there is the 1.0 TSI with 95 or 115 hp and the 1.5 TSI with 150 hp, which can deactivate two of its four cylinders to save fuel. Diesel does not get cold-shouldered yet: the 1.6 TDI is still available. Those who prefer natural gas can opt for the 90 hp 1.0 G-Tec.

In the ADAS department, we are happy to see that Front and Lane Assist come standard. An adaptive cruise control can be had as an extra, just like a digital cockpit. Digitally, the Kamiq steps into the next decade, with its connected infotainment systems. A clever guardian angel for door edge damage are the fold-out protective strips - a feature introduced by the Kodiaq.
