Europcar to extend telematics across entire fleet

Europcar Mobility Group has unveiled plans to connect its entire fleet by 2023, to improve customer service and enhance the management of its fleet.

The daily rental giant already has 44,000 connected cars, and has signed a contract with Geotab and Telefonica to extend connectivity across all of its vehicles.

The real-time telematics monitoring of cars and vans will provide Europcar with seamless access to engine data, driving behaviour and GPS location, delivering insights into distances travelled, vehicle mileages, and fuel levels.

The Group says this data will help it to improve customer experiences through enhanced vehicle delivery and collection and vehicle return services, as well as optimising internal processes such as fleet inventory management and vehicle maintenance.

Olivier Baldassari, Chief Countries & Operations Officer of Europcar Mobility Group, said the company: “Sees technology as a strong enabler of both operational excellence and value creation.”

Neil Cawse, CEO of Geotab, added: "Collaborating with industry leaders around the world allows us to better enable fleet ecosystems to develop maintenance and sustainability programs that can help optimize the cost of ownership of each vehicle.”
